Navratri 2025: On the third day of Navratri, Maa Chandraghanta, the third form of Goddess Durga, is worshipped. This form symbolizes courage, peace, and well-being. It is believed that worshipping Maa Chandraghanta destroys fear, distress, and negativity and brings happiness and prosperity to life. Maa Chandraghanta is depicted riding a tiger. A crescent moon adorns her forehead, which is why she is called "Chandraghanta." She has ten arms, in which she holds divine weapons such as a trident, mace, bow and arrow, sword, dagger, lotus, and kamandalu. Her radiant form inspires fearlessness in devotees, while her gentle form bestows peace.

According to mythology, the demon king Mahishasura had begun to terrorize the three worlds. She took control of heaven, terrifying all the gods. They approached Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh for help. A divine goddess appeared from the radiance and energy of the three gods. Lord Shiva granted her a trident. Lord Vishnu granted her the Sudarshan Chakra. Lord Indra granted her a bell, and the Sun God granted her light. Empowered by these divine powers, Mother Chandraghanta fought a fierce battle with Mahishasura and slew him. Thus, she liberated the gods and all the realms from Mahishasura's terror.
